Advantech Computer On Module series supports fanless operation in very small form factor while supporting CPUs ranging from GX1 to Intel Pentium M. Scalable COM solutions are available: COM-Express, ETX, XTX, SOM-144 and RISC-based SOM. Not only does Computer On Module allows quick design turnover, it also provides the benefits of easy installation, maintenance and upgrades.
COM-Express is the latest COM 125mm x 95mm form-factor which brings several new high-speed interfaces to carrier boards, such as PCIe graphics, PCIe, PCI, SATA, and SDVO.
Advantech COM-Micro series products are all designed with low power consumption processors. They perform the same functions and same pin definitions as the COM-Express Type 2 standard but with smaller board dimensions of 95 x 95 mm. It is the best solution for low power consumption mobile applications.
In a basic form factor of 114 mm x 95 mm, ETX CPU module provides a scalable solution that meets customer's advanced CPU application development needs and reduces time-to-market. ETX has great I/O capacity and meets both ISA and PCI needs, while supporting the Computer On Module concept for plug-in CPU modules. With a wide range of processors available, Advantech ETX CPU module gives application engineers powerful CPU platform choices, streamlining the product development process and reducing time-to-market.Advantech is a founding member of the ETX Industrial Group (ETX-IG).
With a mere 84 x 55 mm board size, the Advantech COM-Ultra series are the most compact COM modules. They are compliant with the COM Express Type 1 standard pin definition, and with a slight modification are able to share with current COM-Express or COM-Micro carrier boards. They are the most suitable solution for personal handheld applications.
Qseven is a new concept in ultra-small COM form-factors; instead of using traditional board-to-board connectors as other COM form-factors do, the Qseven module transfers all the major signals and interface to the carrier board via golden fingers at the PCB edge. This is easier to install and saves the cost of a board-to-board connector. And at 70mm x 70mm board dimensions, the Qseven module offers the best cost / performance solution for mobile and handheld applications.
In order to allow customers to verify the functions of COM (Computer on Modules), Advantech has designed development boards supporting COM-Express series, Qseven, ETX, and XTX form factor, which could be also used to analyze the problems from customers’ carrier boards and provide schematic reference to reduce design effort at development stage.
Advantech’s application board is application-oriented development board; that is, it inherits highly integration from development board and further emphasizes the characteristics of COM. Customers can view it as not only a development board for verification but also a ready-for-use carrier board, which greatly saves time and effort during planning stage.
SOM-144 provides a series of PCI-bus SOM-144 Modules with various CPU classes to meet applications where size, speed and reliability are necessities, as well as fast time-to-market.
